        Agent for Service of Process:  General duties include preparing and filing of the necessary forms with  the Rhode Island Secretary of State and the city/town where the property is located appointing Landmark as the agent for service of process for the property owner until such time as terminated by either party.  Any and all notices of violation and other notices are forwarded to Landmark as agent, and after analyzing the violation or notice, said violation or notice is forwarded to the property owner with a recommendation for curing same.

 

        Pursuant to Rhode Island General Laws § 34-18-22.3, a Rhode Island nonresident property owner must designate an agent for service of process, which designation must be filed with the Rhode Island Secretary of State and the city/town where the property is located.

 

        The fee for being the agent for service of process is a flat fee per year.  This fee is due at the time of engagement for the first year, and thereafter billed yearly on the anniversary date of the engagement.
